First class
First time?
What do I need for practice?
Yoga Mat. The Hot Room does not rent out yoga mats, however, we do have mats to purchase, either a little cheapie mat or our branded mat. You can purchase either in studio or in our online store & collect when you arrive for class.
Hot classes – bring a bath-size towel to place on your mat, a water bottle, and a second towel if you wish to shower.
Yin yoga – we will provide bolsters & blankets for your yin yoga practice, however, feel free to bring your own
What time should I be there?
Doors open 30 min before each class.
When you arrive, check in with teacher by giving your name for the class, even if you’ve booked online
Belongings are placed in the change rooms.
Doors are locked whilst class is in session.
What if I have an injury or medical condition?
Yoga is extremely beneficial for injury & a variety of conditions (see our info pages)
If you have an injury or condition that you are currently experiencing please consult your health professional prior to commencing any yoga practice, as per your online waiver form
If you have an injury or condition that you are currently experiencing please discuss with your teacher & be guided by their advice
If you have any questions relating to your specific circumstances, feel free to email us.
What happens in the practice room?
When you arrive, you’re welcome to place your mat & / or mat & towel in the practice space. Markings on the floor will denote each practice spot.
During class, do the best that you can. You’re welcome to take breaks at anytime, or as guided by your teacher.
When class finishes you can remain in savasana, post the teacher leaving the practice room.
After class, the room is prepared for the next class on schedule.
Bikram Yoga - what can I expect?
The room is designed to be hot, with air circulating continuously throughout the class.
Heat & sweat will take a few classes to get used to, but soon you’ll not notice either. It is a healing practice - do what you can, with what you have, on any given day. It is a disciplined practice - be prepared to be challenged & step outside your comfort zone.
Post class buzz or high is long lasting.
With consistent practice (we recommend 3 times per week) you’ll start to glow & everyone will ask ‘Hey, what’s different about you? What have you been doing?’ & that’s when you can tell them ‘I do Bikram Yoga’.
Bikram Yoga - what are best tips for practice?
Hydration, hydration, hydration - electrolytes can help either before, during or after class
Try not to eat 2 hrs before practice - but continue hydration. If class starts at 6pm, last bit of food before 4pm.
Light clothing is best, we don’t mind what you wear, but ensure you can move & remember your going to sweat, so shorts, leggings, crop tops etc.
Book online
